Why I Create & Share Interiors as a Graphic Designer

As a graphic designer with a passion for interiors, the connection between the two has always felt natural to me. They’re not separate disciplines but complementary ways of exploring creativity. Sharing interiors isn’t just a visual escape; it’s a reflection of my design philosophy and a chance to engage with a different medium.

Graphic design has shaped how I think about visual storytelling, and the same principles of design naturally extend to interiors. The composition of a space—its proportions, balance, and layers—is no different from crafting a layout or building a brand. Interiors let me work in three dimensions, challenging me to think not only about form and function but also about how design can evoke emotions and create tactile, immersive experiences.

For me, interiors are also deeply personal. They’re a creative outlet that allows me to play with the tactile and tangible, bringing ideas to life in a physical space. It’s a way to express the art of living beautifully and intentionally.

When I approach interiors, I lean on the same principles that guide my graphic design. Here are three elements I always incorporate, illustrated through examples from my own studio.

Color and Pattern Play
My design work has honed my eye for color harmonies and bold pattern pairings. In my studio, this translates into thoughtful combinations that feel cohesive yet full of personality. For example, the blue built-ins provide a rich backdrop for colorful books and collected objects, while soft rugs and a mix of textures—like floral patterns and geometric shapes—tie everything together in a way that feels playful but balanced.

Proportions and Balance
Whether it’s a website page or a room, good design is all about proportions. In my studio, you can see how I balance larger furniture pieces, like the built-in shelves, reading chair and desk, with smaller accents such as vases, lamps, and layered artwork. These elements work together to create visual harmony without overwhelming the space.

Details That Tell a Story
Just as branding relies on small real-life details to create impact, interiors come to life through meaningful textures and personal touches. In my studio, vintage rugs and c books bring depth and character (and story of their own), while handmade ceramics and fresh flowers add warmth and a sense of connection to the space. It’s these details that make the design uniquely mine.

Sharing interiors allows me to celebrate the overlap between these two creative disciplines. It’s my way of inviting others to see the world as I do—through the lens of thoughtful storytelling, intentional design, and timeless beauty.
